What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the oldest form of holistic medicine on the planet and is a healing system that focuses on balancing the body’s systems. Only in recent years has the world embraced holistic care but in India Ayurveda has been practiced for centuries. Developed in India over 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda tailors a diet and lifestyle program to each individuals’ genetic makeup or constitution, so the mind, body and spirit can function in perfect harmony to help prolong life and help eliminate imbalances naturally. Ayurveda focuses on natural, organic herbs and therapies to help boost the body’s digestive power and immune system.

Have you ever wondered why different foods effect different people? Why can I eat something in the winter and be fine but if I eat it in the summer I have a major reaction? Why can my friend eat everything under the sun and I have to watch and count every calorie that I consume? Why do I feel tired all the time? Why do I eat healthy and I get sick all the time? Why do I eat healthy and exercise regularly but I’m always soar and achy? Ayurveda doesn’t believe in a “one size fits all” diet and lifestyle plan. Each person is unique and different and one’s constitution, age, lifestyle, environment all play a part in your digestive power and overall immune system.

The relationship between an Ayurvedic Practitioner and their clients are unique. A practitioner will work one on one to help their clients understand their personal constitution and how it relates to their own bodies systems, so it’s important to find the right practitioner for you.
